Colobus Monkey tracking Rwanda invites you on an unforgettable three-day adventure in Nyungwe National Park, a pristine rainforest rich in biodiversity and culture. Begin with a scenic drive from Kigali, stopping at the Ethnographic or King’s Palace Museum to discover Rwanda’s heritage before venturing into the lush forest for a breathtaking canopy walk.
Experience the thrill of chimpanzee trekking at dawn, followed by an encounter with one of the largest colobus monkey troops in Africa. With spectacular views, diverse wildlife, and cultural insights, this tour blends adventure and discovery, offering a truly immersive exploration of Rwanda’s natural wonders.
At 5:00am, your driver guide will pick you up from your Kigali hotel to embark on a 6-hour journey to Nyungwe National Park (NNP). Along the way, you will have the chance to visit either the King's Palace Museum or the Ethnographic Museum. Both museums feature seven galleries that showcase the historical, ethnographic, artistic, and archaeological artifacts of Rwanda, with the help of visual aids. This will enable you to experience the social life of Rwandans before, during, and after colonization. After the museum visit, you will proceed to the park reception for registration. The park guide will then provide you with information about the canopy walk, which offers a chance to enjoy the natural breeze of the forest and the stunning views of Nyungwe. During the 1 hour and 30 minute walk, you may encounter various species of monkeys and birds while listening to the sounds of animals and birds in the jungle forest. You will spend the night at a hotel around the park.
After having breakfast at 5:00am, you will meet with a park guide who will provide you with a briefing on the park and the rules and regulations for chimpanzee trekking. Then, you will drive to the starting point and begin your trek in the forest, which can last for 4 to 6 hours. During the trek, you may encounter other monkeys, birds, and enjoy the beautiful views of the forest. After the trek, you will return to the hotel to have lunch and relax. In the afternoon, you will head to the park reception to track a large troop of black and white colobus monkeys in Africa. This group consists of around 600 individuals. You will meet with a park guide who will give you a briefing on the park and the rules and regulations for colobus trekking. Then, you will drive to the starting point and embark on a 3-hour trek in the forest, where you can meet other monkeys, birds, and enjoy the spectacular view of the forest. Finally, you will return to the hotel where you will spend the night and relax.
