Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our professional guide will welcome you and transfer you to a hotel where you will spend the evening and the night if you arrive in the afternoon.
On day two, after a leisurely breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters where you will meet with a park guide who will brief you about the park and the rules and regulations for chimpanzee trekking. Chimpanzee trekking can take 3 to 5 hours in the forest, during which you may also spot other primates such as Black & White Colobus Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Red-Tailed Monkeys, and L'Hoest's Monkeys, as well as antelopes, buffaloes, and elephants. You can also enjoy spotting colorful birds and beautiful views in the forest. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the next day.
On this day, you will check out early in the morning and start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will enjoy the scenic views along the way and have lunch on the road. Bwindi NP is located in the southwestern part of Uganda and is one of the oldest tropical rainforests in Uganda. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge, stay overnight, have dinner, relax, and prepare for the next day's activities.
After breakfast and packing your lunch, you will head for a full day of tracking endangered mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, the park guide will brief you on the park and the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking, after which you will begin the hike. The trekking time can take anywhere between 4 to 7 hours. Visitors are allowed only one hour per day to interact with the gorillas and take photos, but flash photography is not permitted. You must also maintain a safe distance from them and share information about them. Each gorilla group can only be visited once per day. After the tracking, you will return to the lodge to relax. In the afternoon, you will go for a community tour which lasts for 3 hours, during which you will take part in cultural activities such as local food tasting, hunting by shooting, traditional dancing and more. After the cultural exchange, you will return to the hotel for the evening and overnight stay.
After having breakfast in the early morning, you will leave and head towards Kampala. During the journey, you will pass through Lake Mburo NP, where you can observe a variety of wildlife such as buffaloes, zebras, impalas, oribis, warthogs, waterbucks, colorful bird species, and enjoy scenic views. Along the way, there will be a stop at the Equator line where you can take pictures and purchase souvenirs. If your flight is on the same day, you will continue the journey to Kampala and Entebbe airport.
Uganda is wonderful all year, but the best time to visit Uganda is during its two dry seasons: between December and February, and between June and August, when conditions are particularly good for trekking to see mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safaris. However, these months are also the busiest, so expect crowds and higher prices at hotels and parks. If you want a quieter experience and more personalized tours, consider going from late March to May and September and November during the rainy season. Depending on their preferences, some tourists prefer the rainy season because they anticipate having a more solitary or private tour experience and lower prices at hotels and parks. However, it's important to remember that visiting during the rainy season carries the risk of heavy rains, which can unexpectedly cancel activities.
